The two bands I saw last night are definitely worth checking out. Edgar Allan Ectoplasm: all three dudes play old school sludge through a tiny ludwig drumkit, a fender practice amp that is really quite loud, and a medium sized bass cabinet, making the most of the volume while having a cool sounding but very present tone. All while wearing old school black and white zombie makeup and playing the first living dead movie in the background. The even covered "Lord of this World" by Black Sabbath!
AND, The Paver: this band was amazing, reminded me a bit of Unwound, post-rock/post-punk with a unique classical and heavy metal bent (they say "baroque-core"). The Paver do this with a bass run through a Sunn head with an Acoustic cabinet, an electric violinist/analog synth player that plays through a half stack, and an electric cellist. They're all pretty virtuosic at their instruments, including a great drummer too.

The show was also bittersweet, as it was my last show with Tower. Was looking forward to developing a sound with those guys, as I had already practiced a good amount with them and knew their older material pretty well. They had a pretty cool sound, think Spacemen3, Pink Floyd, an introspective space pop genre. RIP SSG.
